Latest News Diversity at Work

How do you acknowledge and collaborate with people of a different background to your own? Are you aware of the various religious, ethnic, and cultural differences that exist within your workplace and indeed, classroom?

The Certificate III in Education Support provides two dynamic and complimentary units called ‘Work with diversity in the education environment’ and ‘Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers’.   Amongst the topics covered, students will learn the benefits of effective communication with a variety of people, the value of diversity in the workplace, and the legal framework that surrounds working in a diverse environment.   This unit will get you thinking about the many positive aspects of working with others from unique backgrounds and how a range of insights and ideas from different people can really boost an organization.

You will also have the chance to learn more about the history and philosophy of diversity and you’ll be able to examine your own values and how they motivate the choices you make. By the end of these units you will be clearer about how you perceive yourself and others, which in turn creates an awareness of individual differences between people, and the assumptions we make about them -quite an important topic for teacher aides in the classroom and the workplace!
