BOL Assist Mentoring Program PDF Print E-mail

ImageB Online Learning offers all our clients access to our BOL Assist Mentoring Program and mentoring resources. The program is designed to support students in completing certificate courses. In particular, we see the program adding value in those cases where the training is done as part of an approved traineeship. Your workplace supervisor is nominated as your mentor for Traineeships.

The BOL Assist Mentoring Program consists of three components:

  • A Mentoring Kit

The Mentors Kit provides an overview of the mentoring role and responsibilities. It also contains useful templates that may be adapted to each particular situation. It is available in hardcopy or softcopy.

  • Online Mentors Seminars

Image B Online Learning will host Mentors seminars throughout the year on a needs basis. The seminars will focus on building the skills of mentors as well as creating a network of mentors in similar roles. Part of the seminar will take the form of a facilitated webinar, and the second half will take the form of an online live discussion between participants based on case studies or scenarios. The seminars will run for a couple of hours.

  • Learning Coach/Assessor support

B Online Learning Coach/Assessors value the support that Mentors provide for the participants. In turn, our trainers will support Mentors in their roles. Learning Coach’s will be available to answer questions about a student’s learning progress (within confidentiality agreements with the students) and can also assist mentors with clarifications about their roles and responsibilities as mentors.

Responsibilities of the Mentor

It is ultimately the responsibility of the mentor to make the relationship work or to make alternative arrangements.

The responsibilities of the mentor include:

  • To encourage the development of the mentoring relationship
  • To identify and apply appropriate developmental methods for the trainee
  • To devote sufficient, and regular, time to the trainee
  • Interact with the trainee’s manager/supervisor
  • Give feedback to the trainee on a regular basis
  • Maintain records and validate learning
